Jon Lounsbury, a Winthrop, Mass. native, attended Bridgton Academy for a post-graduate year in 2000-2001 and still holds the school record for most goals and points scored in a season. He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications from the University of Southern Maine (USM) where he was a four-time member of the ECAC All-Conference Team. He also was a two-time  college All-American and the all-time leading defenseman in scoring for USM.

Following his collegiate career, Jon played six years of professional hockey — four with the Huntsville Havoc where in 2006 he led all defensemen in scoring with 55 points in 60 games.

When his playing career ended, Jon headed back to Bridgton Academy as an administrator. Thanks to an expansive network that extends from Division 1 to Division 3 coaches, Jon successfully placed more than 120 players in NCAA College Hockey.  After leaving Bridgton Academy, Jon coached junior hockey in Boston with the Walpole Express in the EHL. Over 100 of the players who were coached by Jon during those 5 years went to on to play NCAA Division 1 or Division 3 Hockey.

Prior to joining Oates Sports Group, Jon also worked with the Florida Panthers for two years as a Player Development Coach and with the College of the Holy Cross (NCAA Division 1) for 2 years as a volunteer Assistant Coach. During off-seasons, he trained many local amateur and professional hockey players as a private skills coach.

At Oates Sports Group, Jon works closely with players at all stages of their hockey journey from minor hockey to the NHL providing on-ice skill development, video coaching and mentorship based on Adam’s core principles and philosophies. He is currently working with players primarily in New England and also in several other parts of the United States including New York and Chicago.
